No Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR)

Simply visiting our website, reading our articles, or submitting an online form (like an appointment request or contact form) does not establish a formal Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR). Under Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 43-50), a legally binding VCPR is only created after one of our licensed veterinarians has performed an in-person, physical examination of your pet.

When you submit a form online, you are making a request. It does not become a confirmed appointment or service agreement until our staff reviews it and contacts you to confirm.

Emergency Disclaimer

If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency, please call our hospital immediately at 770-971-1556 or go to the nearest 24-hour emergency veterinary facility.

Do not use our online forms, email, or social media pages to report an emergency. Our digital channels are not monitored 24/7, and a delay in care could be life-threatening to your pet.

Prescription and Medication Refill Terms

We are happy to offer the convenience of online prescription refill requests. However, submitting a request does not guarantee a prescription will be filled. For the safety of your pet and to comply with the law, all medication refills require:

  • Review and authorization by one of our veterinarians.
  • An active Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR). In Georgia, this means we must have examined your pet within the past 12 months.
  • Depending on the medication and your pet’s health status, we may require a new physical exam or bloodwork before approving a refill.

If your pet requires controlled substances, please note that we strictly follow federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Georgia Board of Pharmacy regulations. Schedule II medications cannot be refilled and require a brand-new prescription every time. Schedule III-V medications can only be refilled up to 5 times within a 6-month period.

Medication prices and availability can change without notice. If you prefer to use an outside pharmacy, please review our Medication Request Guidelines for details on how we handle third-party requests.

Boarding and Grooming Services

The descriptions of boarding and grooming services on our website are meant to give you a general idea of what we offer. To actually book these services, you will need to sign separate, specific agreements when you drop off your pet. Please be aware that under Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 44-14-490 et seq.), veterinarians and boarding facilities hold a lien on animals in their care for any unpaid costs related to the services provided.

International Travel Documentation

We offer health certificate services to help you travel internationally with your pet. However, every country has its own strict and frequently changing entry requirements. While we provide the necessary veterinary exams and paperwork, a USDA-APHIS endorsement is usually required as well.

It is ultimately your responsibility as the pet owner to research and verify the specific travel and entry requirements for your destination. Beyond Pets Animal Hospital is not responsible for any travel delays, quarantine fees, or denied border entries caused by changing regulations or incomplete documentation.
