Losing a Pet

Losing a loved one is a painful experience, and the loss of a pet is no exception. Pets hold a very special place in our lives and hearts. They give an unconditional love that gives us the comfort and companionship we need. Pets share an intricate part of our daily lives that we may not fully realize until they are no longer with us. Their routines are interwoven in our daily schedules and when they are gone it leaves a void in our lives.

At first, the grief is very strong, but as time goes on the grief will diminish and the good memories will become stronger. Give yourself time to process the grief, and understand that your feelings are real and valid. Even if someone doesn’t understand your feelings, it’s ok. Only you understand the intensity of the bond you had with your pet.
