These guidelines explain how Beyond Pets Animal Hospital handles medication requests so our team can keep care accurate, timely, and focused on your pet.
Medication requests from outside retailers
As of 5/1/2025, Beyond Pets Animal Hospital no longer approves third-party retailer requests sent directly to us by phone, fax, or email.
This includes requests from large online retailers, marketplace vendors, and similar outside sellers.
Why we use this process
1. Prioritizing patient care
Requests from outside sellers often require significant doctor and staff time to verify. Keeping the process direct helps our team focus on pets currently in the hospital, respond to clients faster, and provide the hands-on care your pet deserves.
2. Keeping medication details accurate
Outside requests can arrive incomplete or in inconsistent formats. Preparing written authorization directly through our hospital reduces errors and helps make sure your pet’s medical record is reviewed before anything is approved.
3. Protecting product handling and sourcing
Some outside channels may not follow the same manufacturer handling, storage, or shipping standards. When medication quality matters for your pet’s health, our team prefers a process we can document and stand behind.
4. Using staff time responsibly
High-volume outside-vendor communication pulls time away from patient care. This policy lets us keep our team’s attention on appointments, treatment plans, and direct client support.
How to request your pet’s medication
Written authorization for an outside retailer
- Contact our office directly to request written authorization.
- Please allow 24-48 business hours for a veterinarian to review your pet’s record and prepare it.
- Written authorization must be picked up in person from our Marietta hospital.
Hospital-affiliated partner portal
When available, our hospital-affiliated partner portal can connect requests directly with your pet’s medical record for veterinarian review. This also helps support our local practice here in Marietta.
In-hospital pickup
For many common items, you can purchase directly from us during your visit or by stopping by the hospital.
